About the Event

Join us at AMBACC as we bask in the ambiance with Nell Stoke's as she recounts her life experiences through stories, poetry, and song. She has shared her passion for African American history throughout the years and has been instrumental in creating programs for youth in the Capital Region, working tirelessly as a volunteer and activist. The Albany Institute of History & Art mounted an exhibit of her work entitled "Nell Stokes: Stories Education Advocate" in 2024 An oral interview with Nell is on the Institute's website:

She is featured in the Siena College documentary "Journey to Freedom", honoring veterans of the Civil Rights Movement. To view the video, go to siena.edu/journeytofreedom.
