Kuumba: A Day of Creative Exploration for Kids
On September 12, 2026, the Alice Moore Black Arts & Cultural Center proudly launched Kuumba, a recurring youth initiative centered around creativity, culture, and community.
The first Kuumba was a beautiful success, with a great turnout of children. Kids enjoyed arts and crafts, storytelling, jewelry making, imaginative play, and other hands-on activities designed to encourage creativity and self-expression.
The children also had the opportunity to sit down and enjoy lunch together, giving them time to connect, build friendships, and strengthen a sense of community.
Kuumba gives our children a space to have fun while supporting their cultural identity, confidence, creativity, social-emotional development, and connection to community.
We are excited to continue bringing Kuumba to our community. The next Kuumba is October 17, 2026, and spots are filling fast!
